The Grand Opening
by Hayley, age 12 One warm sunny day in Sylvania a large black van drove down the long twisting roads and stopped outside a small cottage. The door to the van swung open and a little guinea pig jumped out, then another and then a large male guinea pig jumped out. He helped out a female guinea pig then he helped out an old female guinea pig, then an old male guinea pig. Then he reached into the van again and pulled out two very cute baby guinea pigs, then he shut the door. The whole family of guinea pigs all went into the small cottage surrounded by trees and flowers. |

| Later on that day when mother guinea pig went to make a refreshing cup of tea the doorbell rang. Mother guinea pig opened the door and standing in front of her was a very well dressed badger holding a bag of sugar and a packet of biscuits.
The badger said sorry to bother you but I saw you arrive today. I have brought you some sugar and a bag of Super Sams Special Sylvanian Biscuits. Mother guinea pig offered the badger into her home. When the badger entered, mother guinea pig gathered her family around so she could introduce them. My name is Gail and this is my husband Gary, these are my children Greta and Gregory and my two twins Gribly and Gria, and this is my mother and father Gilbert and Gertrude. The badger introduced herself. Im Beatrix Underwood and I have a husband called Benjamin and I have two children Byron and Bess I also have a father who lives next door his name is George. She then said I shall have to go to bath my children, would you like any help tomorrow unpacking your treasures, my husband is free to help out. O.K then yes thank you. Said Gail. She shut the door then tucked her children into bed. The children had to sleep in a bed together because one of the beds was left in the van for the night. Gail, Gary, Gilbert and Gertrude all slept on the floor. The morning came and the sun shone through the windows of the cottage and woke every one up. Gary was the first to be woken; he got dressed then went outside to unpack all of their belongings. When he went to pull out a bed he heard a voice shouting would you like a hand unpacking. Gary looked around and saw that it was Benjamin Underwood from the cottage facing, he was there to help him unpack. That day everyone was doing something. Gail was cleaning with Beatrix, the babies were playing, the children were playing with Byron and Bess, grandma Gertrude was knitting a dress for Gretas new doll, and grandpa Gilbert was reading the Sylvanian Times News. By tea time the house had furniture in and it was sparkling clean, so the whole family went out for a meal and the Underwoods tagged along. When they had all finished their meal Gail and Beatrix had a chat about the opening of the candy shop. The next day Gail woke everyone up and dressed the babies and put them in their pram. Gail and Gary went down to the candy shop to put up shelves and paint the walls, as it was to be open in two days. In the mean time the children were at the park with their grandparents. They were in the sand pit with Harold and Antonia Beagle. Then they went for a picnic by the canal and they saw the Otters go past on their narrow boat. Then they were playing with Oliver on his new bicycle he got for his birthday. Then they went for an ice cream and a cake at the village cake shop. Then they went home to bed. The next day Gail and Gary went to their candy shop and put some finishing touches together. They put candy in place they fixed the magazines, they put some flowers outside, then they had a big party. The whole village was there as they sliced open the red ribbon to show the shop was officially open. The next day Gail and Gary went to work in the shop, so grandma Gertrude and grandpa Gilbert took the children to their new school St Francis School. They took the babies to nursery and went to see if Gail and Gary wanted any help in the shop. Later on that day they all had a bath then went to sleep in there warm snugly bed. The End |
